Press release
Born in 1981 in Japan, Keita Mori graduated from the Tama University of Art in Tokyo and continued his studies in Paris, at the Ensba and the University of Paris VIII. Based in France since 2011, he has developed a singular body of work, exclusively made with stretched and glued wires, on paper or directly on the walls. His drawings, called “Bug report”, are created without prior sketches, incorporating recurring elements such as “circuit” or “flow”. If the rigor of his lines is impressive, it is the poetry of accidents and unexpected details that emerges from his works. For his new exhibition, Mori chooses the title “Ito no ito”, a Japanese expression that means both “design of thread” and refers to the double meaning of the word “ito”, the thread, the foundation of his work. His drawings, sometimes straight lines, circles or ellipses, extend on Arches paper or are transformed into monumental installations. For more than ten years, Mori has been evolving this unique technique, its graphic language crossing the borders between Europe and Japan. Excerpt from Keita Mori, Metaphorical Horizons (2023).
