Press release

Galerie Clavé Fine Art is pleased to present the exhibition Open Fields, under the direction of Bianca D’Ippolito, highlighting the works of Claude de Soria and François Réau at La Collection. From September 14 to November 2, 2024, Open Fields celebrates the idea of landscapes, both as geographical spaces and as emotional and intellectual territories. Three artists from different generations transform specific materials – cement, fabric, graphite, plants – into a vast artistic narrative.
The Collection, confounded by Florence Cools and Arthur Tadevosian, transforms fabric into a dynamic expression of personal and cultural geography, highlighting timeless fashion as a space of human identity that embodies history, tradition and innovation. Each garment is carefully designed, not only as a fashion item, but also as an essential component of a larger artistic narrative. The curator’s choice challenges La Collection’s vision as a mere fashion brand, affirming its status as a creative powerhouse in its own right. Each piece is a work of art, rich in emotions and signs of transformation, which dialogues with the elementary forms of Claude de Soria and resonates with the infinite landscapes of François Réau, thus completing this trio.
Claude de Soria redefines cement, transforming this robust material into abstract and delicate shapes that evoke ancient natural landscapes. His approach favours a continuous dialogue where the material guides the creation. This retrospective selection testifies to his search for surprise and letting go in the creative process. François Réau, on the other hand, creates abstract landscapes using graphite, where each line evokes time, a poor connection between man and nature, as well as the ephemeral. Using simple lines and modest materials, he questions our relationship with space and time, inviting the audience on a sensory journey through landscape and memory. His work is similar to a visual poetry, uniting the vast and the unspeakable, mixing the ephemeral and the permanent. Réau’s repetitive and meditative process on paper reflects Claude de Soria’s sculptures and the meaning of La Collection’s creations. Together, these artists embody the spirit of exploration and curiosity, freeing materials and mediums from their constraints. their practice broadens the public’s perception of what a landscape is, whether physical or mental: an Open Field, a moment suspended in time and space, a meeting place for ideas and inspirations.
